The Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) McNair Scholars Program invites applicants to apply for Cohort 21. The program seeks students who are current Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are considering going to graduate school. The McNair program will prepare students for graduate studies by providing them with the following opportunities:
- Paid research experience ($2,800 stipend)
- Customized academic advising and career planning
- Faculty mentorship
- Sponsored travel to research conferences, and other networking opportunities
- Assistance in the graduate application process
We invite you to apply to the McNair Scholars Program if you meet the following criteria:
- First-generation and low-income college student
- OR
- A member of an underrepresented group in graduate education
- Sophomore (completed at least 48 credit hours), Junior (completed at least 60 credit hours), or Senior graduating no earlier than December 2023
- A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher (4.0)
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
The application is now open and will be accepting applications until November 30th, 2022 at 11:59 pm. Being named a McNair Scholar is both an honor and responsibility, as there are no more than 15 scholars selected for the program each year.
