Earn up to $700 per week during the 2022-23 School Year!

Thanks to a grant from A Better Chicago, Roosevelt University created the Metropolitan Chicago Tutoring Corps (MCTC) in collaboration with Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Corps members provide paid, high-dosage tutoring during the school day in reading and literacy to kindergarten through fifth grade students in select CPS schools during the 2022 – 23 school year.

The MCTC is a focused effort to address the needs of Chicago students and prepare them for success as schools emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.

MCTC is open to all Northeastern Illinois University undergraduate and graduate students! Teacher candidates enrolled in elementary education are especially encouraged to apply. All who want to help make a positive difference in the lives of our future leaders are welcome.

All corps members will be employed by CPS and paid for their tutoring during the school day. CPS will pay corps members $20-22 an hour, as long as you’re willing to tutor for 20-32 hours per week. That’s $400-$700 a week!

Acceptance into the MCTC will provide Northeastern Illinois University students with other important benefits:

  • Specialized support and training during the Fall and Spring semesters for the tutoring work to be completed.
  • Up to $1,500 to cover expenses related to child care and transportation.
  • For teacher candidates: the possibility of counting tutoring time as field experience hours.

To express your interest in becoming a corps member, please fill out this form. An MCTC recruitment coordinator will respond soon to arrange a time for a group interview where you can learn more about the program.

This is a unique opportunity to obtain knowledge and skills applicable to your career goals and to make a difference in the city of Chicago.
